Don's law enforcement career began with the New York City Police Department in 1985, where he served in the 28th and 103rd Precincts and with Emergency Service Squad #1. In 1992, he joined the Nassau County Police Department, ultimately retiring as a Detective after 25 years of service. During that time he served in the First Precinct, the Bureau of Special Operations, and the Special Investigations Squad's Counter Terrorism Section and Dignitary Protection unit, and was assigned to a U.S. Department of Justice Federal Task Force. Across his police career, he accumulated 14 years of tactical operations experience.

Parallel to his civilian service, Don served as a First Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, retiring in 2021. His Marine Corps career centered on personal security and executive protection at the highest levels, including assignments as Team Chief for the Multi-National Force–Iraq Chief of Staff's Personal Security Detachment and Team Commander for a Battalion Commander's Personal Security Detachment with Combat Logistics Battalion 2 in Afghanistan. He also served on the personal security detachments for the Commanding Officers of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Joint Forces Command, and as First Sergeant of Golf Company, 2/25, with Task Force Southwest in Afghanistan. Over ten years of this work, he protected senior U.S. officials across multiple overseas tours.

Today, Don applies that combined law enforcement and military background to provide executive protection, personal security, and training services for Upfront Security Associates' staff and clients.
